The Acer Aspire One

The Acer Aspire One made its debut into the world of netbooks in July 2008 and has found its competition among the Asus Eee and Dell Inspirion Mini 9. One of the best features of the netbook is the portability it provides for those who want access to the internet from anywhere at anytime. As soon as the Acer Aspire One is booted up the WiFi is enabled and the internet is at the fingertips of the netbook user.

The screen is a 8.9" Crystalbrite LED and when the computer is running the home screen is divided into four areas for easy organization. The default screen divisions on the Aspire One fall into four categories; Connect, Work, Fun, and Files. The Acer Aspire One offers a single instant messaging, and email program that allows users to manage multiple screen names and email accounts from one source.

Battery life on the Acer Aspire One is an impressive seven hours. Despite the size of the computer many customers who have purchased the Acer Aspire One have fallen in love with the little netbook. The main pros listed by the ravers of the product were the speed and ease with setting the computer up for its initial first booting. First time Linux Users were pleased with the breezy set up involved and commended the Acer Aspire One for being easy to use. Those who have worked on the typical Windows operating system for years may find some struggle in switching over to Linux, but the manufacturers of Acer Aspire One attempts to make that struggle as painless as possible.

In spite of the glowing reviews for the Acer Aspire One, there were some who found fault with the netbook. Some users of the Acer Aspire One were disappointed that the computer wasn't compatible with a dial-up modem, and others complained that the computer wouldn't connect to the internet at all. One thing that potential purchasers of the Acer Aspire One should be aware of is that the netbook wasn't designed to be a main work computer for business. The Acer Aspire One's light design, portability, and small processor make it an ideal computer for those who want the ease of transporting small files, music, documents, and internet wherever they go. The Acer Aspire One is more of a travel-computer than a home-computer. It's a computer that customers can tote around in the their backpack or handbag and whip out to check email in the middle of a restaurant or cafe.

The mere 2lbs the computer weighs doesn't restrain the Acer Aspire One from being a durable, well-constructed machine. The typical cost of the Acer Aspire One ranges from $300-$600 considering the amount of space available on the netbook. The Acer Aspire One comes in four different colors; seashell white, sapphire blue, coral pink, and golden brown. The netbook weighs 2.78lbs and is manufactured in China. The manufacturers offer a one year warranty on the Acer Aspire One.
