extra ram would only help with your battery life if you're swapping.

if it's using virtual memory, ie using the hard drive to substitute for real memory.

What's the battery situation? You are not getting 5 hours? Or you need more than 5 hours?

What kind of operations are you doing on your computer with the battery? Processing video? Is there a lot of disk access? If you aren't doing anything with a lot of disk access, like the swapping you guys talked about earlier, the extra gig of memory will just use up your battery faster.

Just look at the hard disk LED. If it is always on or constantly on, then the extra memory will help you conserve battery. Otherwise, you'll want to invest in another battery. Maybe you'll want to get these 9-cell batteries:

Hardly having. I guess I will be alright...are these the same ones on ebay? They all look the same. I hope by the time I truly need one, they might make one that extend through the back and not the bottom.

Don't know if they are the same one on eBay, but probably. Just look at the mAh rating. That's really what's important to a battery.

They won't make one that extend through the back, because the MSi Wind U100 lid gets in the way. If you open the netbook, you'll see that the lid goes all the way down the back. So it's not possible to make a battery that extends to the back, without extending it downward.

It seems quite fashionable to have notebook lids that way on today's notebooks. But I find it quite distracting, because it gives me the feeling that the screen is below the keyboard.
