HP/Compaq Mini 700When the HP Compaq Mini 1000 first launched in the United States, netbook users in the UK craved for an identical computer. Soon after, the HP Compaq Mini 700 stepped onto the scene. The netbook is an almost exact clone of the HP Compaq Mini 1000. The HP Compaq Mini 700 has a 10.2 inch screen with 1,024 x 600 screen resolution. The model is the spec twin of the HP Compaq Mini 1000 that is popular in the United States. The only two differences between the netbooks is that the HP Compaq Mini 700 has a differently designed lid with a Compaq logo placed on the edge. The second difference is the optional HSDPA network that the HP Compaq Mini 700 provides. Overall, the two netbooks are eerily alike. The HP Compaq Mini 700 hits the sweet spot for travelers. Frequent fliers and individuals who never seem to be at home will enjoy the portability of the HP Compaq Mini 700. The netbook is incredibly lightweight and only weighs 2.25lbs. The average netbook weighs just under three pounds so the HP Compaq Mini 700 could be considered on the lighter end. Although it doesn't weigh much, it comes with a nearly full-size keyboard to keep the fingers from cramping up during typing. Even though the HP Compaq Mini 700 has some good aspects, it should be mentioned that no netbook is without fault. Users of the netbook felt that the computer's webcam produced images that were too dark, and the touchpad was another downside. HP Compaq Mini 700 owners had to get use to the position of the touchpad and the click buttons. The touchpad problem could easily be solved with a wireless mouse. The HP Compaq Mini 700 is loaded with Windows XP and has a webcam and microphone integrated into the system. Bluetooth capabilities, two USB ports, and HSDPA network access are all great features of the HP Compaq Mini 700. The netbook is powered with the typical 3-cell lithium battery. Although the HP Compaq Mini 700 comes with a standard 3-cell battery it is possible to opt for a 6-cell and get an extra boost of energy to the netbook. Battery life is becoming increasingly important to consumers who are looking for the perfect netbook to purchase and the option of having more battery life places the HP Compaq Mini 700 ahead of some of its competitors who only promise 2-3 hours of internet browsing. There are places where the HP Compaq Mini 700 falls in line with the rest of its netbook competitors. For example, the HP Compaq Mini 700 has the same intel atom processor as most of the other netbooks available. The price for the HP Compaq Mini 700 is around $600. Kia I liked your review. I have the Compaq Mini 700ei (which i am using now) and it's great! I love every aspect of it, the keyboard, the screen the size... Now i understand the difference between the 700 and the 1000. Over all the netbooks i reccomend the mini 700 becuase if the keyboard (very comfertable an no spelling mistakes), the screen (10.2") and the weight (so slim!). 5/5 stars. yoni I love my Mini 700ei Al Andrew does anyone know how long the battery will last for the Mini 700? I was hoping for something like five hours? RT The battery on Mini 700 will last about 3 hours with out internet usage... and less, depending on how much is drained by internet usage (transmitters and stuff). Advice from Latvia! hi i was just going to ask what is theprice and when is it going to arrive in the us anomynus
