DSL with no phone line?
This morning, I called my old phone number and got the disconnected message. I called the new phone number and got the ring tone. Interesting thing is . . . my DSL at my old residence is still working! So does this mean that if you want DSL but don't want to pay for local phone service, all you have to do is 1) set-up local phone service; 2) set-up DSL; and 3) cancel phone service? That would be a great work-around, wouldn't it? Chieh Cheng The DSL at my old residence finally stopped working as of Wednesday. Is it just a normal down-time glitch? Or did DSL stop working because the phone line is disconnected? I don't know. When I have time, I'll have to take my DSL modem back there and give it another try. Chieh Cheng

I have just disconnected my local telephone number and moved it to my new residence. I had DSL attached to my old telephone number, but the automated move service provided by the telephone company could only move the phone account automatically. To move the DSL requires a separate call to the online service branch. Needless to say, I couldn't get through their customer service last night.
