mail in /var/mail

mail in /var/mail

In Mac OS X's Terminal, I see the following messages:

  You have mail in /var/mail/kite
  You have new mail in /var/mail/kite

It's probably mail from cron jobs I sat up. How do I read my mail on Mac OS X? Do I use the Mail.app? It wants to set up POP and SMTP, which I do not want.

try "mail -f /var/mail/kite" or just "less /var/mail/kite"

you can also try installing pine or elm.

Ok. Thanks. I see that there is a very rudimentary mail program that I can just run from the command-line.

ya. go to terminal and type "mail".
