SSH Seemly Hangs While Connecting to Remote HostRecently, ssh on Mac OS 10.5.8, seems to have stopped working for a number of remote hosts that I regularily connect to. Fed up today, I started tracing the processes and ended up seeing xauth hanging on every ssh connection. Very strange. Some comments on the Internet indicates that xauth could hang if X11 is not running. Funny I never had to start X11 manually on Mac OS X before. I launched X11 only to find that it crashes on launch. There is the culprit. Not sure how X11 became corrupted, but I suspect Apple software update had updated it a few weeks ago (when the trouble start). After reinstalling version 2.6.3 from the XQuartz community, ssh worked wonderfully again. Mel
