Fugu 1.2.0 Doesn't Support TextEdit

Ok, I'm on this quest to find a SFTP/SCP graphical front-end application that lets me edit remote text files without the need to install a special graphics text editor other than the standard TextEdit application in Mac OS X. Fugu 1.2.0 is the second application I downloaded. Must like the Cyberduck 3.0.3 that I downloaded earlier, it also doesn't support the standard TextEdit application. Sadly, it only support the ones on the screen shot below. Back onto my quest.

gnowk had helped me find a web page (see "Customizing the Editor in Fugu" in the Related Links below) that shows how to hack Fugu so that it would recognize TextEdit as an external editor. After going through the process of hacking Fugu, I found that although I can open up the text file in TextEdit, after I edit it and save it, only the local temporary file is change. The remote file did not. Therefore, this application still did not suit my purpose.

Attached below is the hack, if you want to give it a try your self. Just put the file inside the Fugu application. And that's done by: 1) right-clicking on the Fugu application; 2) click on "Show Package Contents"; 3) Navigate to "Contents" -> "Resources"; 4) copy the attached file into that directory.

Attached File: ODBEditors.plist (4 KB)

Title: Cyberduck 3.0.3 Doesn't Support TextEdit
Weblog: GearHack
Excerpt: I just downloaded Cyberduck 3.0.3, hoping it could do everything WinSCP could do on Mac OS X. After downloading it, I was quite pleased that it seems quite capable and that I could configure it to edit a text file on a remote server when I double click on it. That feature is one that I really needed . . .
