Free Disk Imaging Software for Mac OS?Does anyone know of a free disk imaging software for Mac OS? Something like DriveImage XML for Windows? Chieh Cheng dd charlie under os x, you can use Superduper! or Carbon Copy Cloner to image disks. David Thanks for the suggestions. Both software seems like quality-software that would to the job. But so far the simple task of imaging the primary Mac hard drive hasn't been easy. In both cases, the software cannot create a disk image on the hard drive volume that is actually being imaged. For some folks, that's quite logical. I mean before I have ever used DiskImage XML, I'd think the same way. But Windows XP and DiskImage XML has made me realize that technology has advanced. Using volume locking and volume shadowing, DiskImage XML has been able to image the hard drive onto itself, at the same time that you are still working. Restoration has no side-effect when a disk image is created this way. So far, SuperDuper! could not accomplish this feat. Carbon Copy Cloner, on the other hand, seems to let me image the hard drive into an image file on itself. However, disk image is only 52 MB. When I looked at the log, I see the following error messages: hdiutil: attach failed - not recognized I don't know what these error code means. I guess I'll have to look into them. But so far, both free disk imaging software has failed my expectations. Chieh Cheng
