Device Removal Error

The MSi Wind U100 netbook has a built-in memory card reader. With its 5 hours battery, I love carrying it around with my data on a SD Card. And Mac OS X, running on this netbook, allows me to put it to sleep and wake it up in an instant.

Unfortnately, when I do put it to sleep and wake it up with a SD Card in the slot caues Mac OS X to product the following error message (see screen shot below):

The device you removed was not properly put away. Data might have been lost or damaged. Before you unplug your device, you must first select its icon in the Finder and choose Eject from the File menu.

When happens is that the drive is still on the desktop when I put the netbook to sleep. When I wake it up, I see the drive, but it immediately disappears with that error message. Once I click the "OK" button, the drive is remounted.

There should be some automated way to eject the drive when I put the netbook to sleep. But, so far, all of the solutions ar4 dead-ends. I have written a shell script and an AppleScript to eject the drive. When I execute the scripts, they work fine. But when SleepWatcher execute the scripts, the drive won't eject. So far, I have found no work-around for this issue.
