rdesktop "persistent bitmap caching" is buggy

I think the "persistent bitmap caching" feature of rdesktop is a great idea. Caching bitmaps of screen areas where there are no changes is a great way to save bandwidth and speed up remote connection by sacrifacing a little bit of hard disk space, which is negligible in today's computers. However, using this feature is not without problems. Every once in a while, when this feature is enabled in rdesktop 1.6.0, rdesktop will crash with the following error message:

X Error of failed request:  BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
  Major opcode of failed request:  53 (X_CreatePixmap)
  Value in failed request:  0x0
  Serial number of failed request:  4925
  Current serial number in output stream:  5001

And if you attempt to reconnect with the feature enabled, it will crash right after you log in. You can continue to repeat this process 5 to 10 times until it finally recovers. But it kind of defeat the purpose of saving bandwidth. Another options is to turn off the "persistent bitmap caching" feature after the crash to recover, then turn it back on at a later time.

I just hope this bug can be fixed so that we can save bandwidth and not have to deal with this nuisance.
