Xubuntu 6.1 Hangs with AirLink101 AWLC4130 Wireless Super G Cardbus AdapterI have a Xubuntu 6.1 running on my Super Digital Media Terminal. And it's been running on a 802.11b wireless adapter all this time. Recently, I have the need for higher bandwidth, so it's time to upgrade it to 802.11g. I figure my new AirLink101 AWLC4130 Wireless Super G Cardbus Adapter is perfect for this purpose. This network adapter uses the Atheros chip set. But last night, I found that booting Xubuntu with this card in the PCMCIA slot hangs Xubuntu on startup. I removed the card and rebooted. It booted into Xubuntu fine. But when I tried to inserter the card after booting up, it hangs again. I am really baffled at this problem. Booting Xubuntu from CD with the network adapter works just fine. But not when the operating system is already installed and working with a different network adapter. If anyone could shed light on this problem, I would be eternally grateful. Chieh Cheng Had an idea today. I loaded the Synaptic Package Manager and searched for "atheros". I noted that I have linux-restricted-modules-2.6.17-10-generic version 2.6.17.5-11 installed. This package included the MadWifi driver for Atheros chipset. Maybe upgrading this package will solve the problem. So I clicked on "Mark for Upgrade" and then on the "Apply" button. But I got the following a package not found error message. Chieh Cheng I never did solve this problem with the AirLink101 AWLC4130 network card. Instead, I got the EDUP PCMCIA 802.11B/G Wireless Wifi Card for Laptop, which worked as soon as I plugged it in and booted up the machine. Chieh Cheng
