Unity Full Screen Bug?

Using Remmina Remote Desktop Client and Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager on Ubuntu 12.10 reveal an annoying bug. I like to access remote computers and virtual machines in full-screen mode. But whenever I minimize the full-screen display, the minimize animation would show the desktop for an instant, but the full-screen display would be back on the screen again. You can click the mouse once to finally reveal the desktop.

At first, I thought it was Remmina Remote Desktop Client bug. But after seeing the exact same symptom with Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager, I'm guess it's a Unity bug that applies to all full-screen windows.

This bug has been documented in this bug report:

Launcher and global menu bar get invisible after a program is minimized from full screen mode

Within the bug report, a user provide a useful work-around: use the full-screen display in a separate workspace. Unity defaults to four workspaces. Press the 'capture' key. Then use CTRL-ALT-[arrow] to switch to a different workspace.
