Left-Handed Mouse Where Buttons are Physically Swapped
I know you can "Switch primary and secondary buttons" in Windows and other OS's, which I do all the time. Now here are a list of problems when you use software mapping at the OS level... 1. To prevent carpal tunnel syndrome, I have learned to be ambidextrous with the mouse in both hands. I switch all the time on different workstations. So that means every time I switch, I have to remap the mouse buttons. If the mapping is done in the hardware on the mouse, I just pick up the correct mouse for right/left hand operation. 2. On laptops, the mouse and the touchpad works at the same time. If I swap the buttons in the OS, the touchpad gets swapped as well. That's highly undesirable, as I want to switch back and forth between the mouse and touchpad every few seconds, depending on which is convenient. It also helps reduce carpal tunnel syndrome. With a hardware-based left-handed mouse, the touchpad won't be affected. 3. Remote Desktop (Windows), rdesktop (Linux), 2X RDP (Android) can play trick on each other when you re-map the buttons on the client-side vs. the server-side. You can read more details about this problem in the "rdesktop 1.6.0 with Mouse Buttons Patch" thread. A physical left-handed mouse eliminates this problem completely. There are probably more problems when you map mouse buttons at the OS level, but these are what comes to mind at the moment. Any mouse comes to mind? Mel Hi, I found this post when doing some investigation. I've made a modification to a mouse, so the buttons can be physically swapped, enabling both left- and right-handed operation. We should all go and post on their forums to make sure they get the feedback that this is a good thing and they should keep doing it. Chris

Does a left-handed mouse where buttons are physically swapped exist? What I mean by that is that the left physical button actually acts as the right button in the operating system (OS). And the right physical button acts as the left button in the OS.
