Where are all the KPilot backup files for Palm OS?If you use the Palm OS devices, Linux, and KPilot, you might wonder where KPilot stores all of the backup files and your other personal information. I had to recently find those files so that I can archive the backups in case I ever need the information again. I wanted to archive the data because I have recently switch from the Kyocera SmartPhone QCP-6035 Palm-powered PDA phone to a Verizon/UTStarcom XV6700 Pocket PC phone running Windows Mobile 5.0. Although I plan to move all my data over, I'll never really know if there is a datum I missed until I start looking for it. Having an archive means I can always go back to the archive and look for my data. I am running KPilot 4.4.1 on top of K Desktop Environment (KDE) 3.2.3. KPilot doesn't actually allow you to configure the backup directory, nor does it tell you where the directory is through its user interface. So I had to resort to UNIX shell wizardary and search for the file by brute force. It turns out KPilot stores all its files in your user home directory under ".kde/share/app/kpilot/DBBackup". There is also a ".kde/share/app/kpilot/pending_install". I suspect you can install Palm files and executables by putting them in this directory. Chieh Cheng
