Motorola Wireless Keyboard for XOOM Doesn't Pair with PCAfter getting the Motorola Xoom, I was really excited that I can use it almost like a computer. The only thing missing was the keyboard. Motorola Wireless Keyboard for Motorola ATRIX and XOOM looked really nice and I heard it worked really well with the Motorola Xoom. So I ordered one. And it really looked good in person and worked flawlessly with the Xoom. However, the trouble started when I tried to pair it with my HP DV6-3050US laptop, running Windows 7, with built-in Bluetooth. The two devices just will not pair with one another. I even reset the Motorola wireless Bluetooth keyboard, but the problem persisted. The computer will attempt to pair, ask for the pass-code ("0000"), and wait for pairing until time out. Finally, I returned the keyboard, because I can't really justify a premium keyboard that only works with the Motorola Xoom. The are other inexpensive Bluetooth keyboards that should work with both devices. I'm looking for one of those now. On the other hand, if you had more luck getting the Motorola Xoom Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard to work with your computer, please let us know. Chieh Cheng I found a review on Amazon where the user claims that the Motorola Wireless Keyboard for XOOM works with a Windows PC. The following is the user's post regarding this issue: "I bought this keyboard for my Xoom. I purchased it a week prior to see if it would work on my ideapad s10-3t, ipod touch, and HTC-Incredible. And it worked great, here and there the signal gets lost and needs a minute to reconnect if you stop typing for more than 30 seconds but that is just a small annoyance. Otherwise it works great responsive light nice layout. Now you may be wondering if the shortcut keys work on windows and it does. The back arrow is escape the android menu button is the windows menu button and a few android keys don't work on windows but most do just a small learning curve. As for the ipod touch a few worked but it was meant for android. My final thoughts this is a great but pricey keyboard if you have the galaxy tab, xoom, or android smart phone this is a worthy purchase and the fact it is compatible with windows and apple products just boost its value. Chieh Cheng First thing to note is that your laptop must be able to support the Bluetooth HID profile. I have no idea what that means, except that this is a requirement, so check your laptop to make sure it supports this. My iPad 2 does support HID, but I still couldn't this keyb to pair with it, until I found some document on the Motorola site that said "to pair with a computer, hold down the V, A, and R keys then power up the keyboard". I did that and the iPad immediately saw it, gave me a 4-digit code to type on the keyboard, and now it works like a charm. Try that on your laptop. I've attached the file. SevSar Thanks for the tip, SevSar. I noticed that it says "Note: Your keyboard pairs with any device that supports the Bluetooth HID profile. However, some functions may not be supported" in the PDF you provided. So now I have more faith in this keyboard. Chieh Cheng Well, I reordered the Xoom wireless keyboard. This time, the keyboard paired with my notebook computer right away. I don't know if it's because the notebook is the first device that I have ever paired with this keyboard or if the other Xoom keyboard was defective. Attached are my TUTORIAL! Cheers. Rene Barbosa You have to hold the V,A, and R key on the keyboard on power up when you want to connect it to a computer. Zack Thanks for the tips on holding on key V, A and R while powering up the keyboard to make it possible to pair the keyboard with my iPad. It works fine with Samsung Tab 7.7, too.
