Android Tablet at Your Local RetailerThe Augen GenTouch tablets and netbooks that shown up in K-Mart's last month really made a wave. They flew off the shelves before most of us even knew about its availability. And so my co-workers and I drove out to K-Mart last week, hoping that they get more into the store. And there was still none on the shelf. Today, I found that Bed, Bath, and Beyond has been quietly selling the Pandigital Novel ebook reader. Underneath the ebook reader facade, the Pandigital Novel actually runs Android 2.0. With very minor hacks, you can grab your own Android tablet any given day of the week at your local Bed, Bath, and Beyond store. The device sells for $169. However, with the 20% off coupon that Bed, Bath, and Beyond passes out all the time, you can have it for ~$136. Not bad for a 7" Android tablet with 800x600 resolution. In addition, it comes with a whopping 1 GB RAM and a speedy 800 MHz processor. These specs puts the oversea Android tablets to shame (see "Tons of Google Android 7" Tablet on eBay" thread). As I write this, I have already stolen my wife's 20% off coupon. Tomorrow, I will head down to the Bed, Bath, and Beyond store to pick up the Pandigital Novel. My plan . . . build it into an educational tablet for my kids (see "Tablet for Kids Table of Content"). Chieh Cheng you just missed their $20 mail in rebate offer by a couple days... you can still price match against walgreens for a better deal. details here: http://www.androidtablets.net/forum/android-tablet-news/701- . . . walgreens currently has it selling for $159.99, but the screen grab in the thread shows $149.99. you can try your luck with a printout of the screen grab. gnowk Thanks. I found out about the black version of Pandigital Novel. Now I'm debating which one I should get. The white version has an internal microSD slot, so it's upgrade able. The black version has 2GB soldered on-board. In addition, the display in the black version is rumored to be improved. Not sure if it is now touch, stylus, or both. Quite a hard decision now. Chieh Cheng FCC filing for the black one: According to page 55 of the PDF manual: > 7” Digital TFT LCD Display 600x800 pixels, 220 nits Black case > Includes stylus for faster screen navigation Implies resistive touchscreen > Compatible Media Sources: Secure Digital™ (SD), MMC Looks like you will be able to use external memory cards gnowk Thanks. The white one has both an internal microSD Card slot and an external SD Card slot. Chieh Cheng
