PlanetSide 2: Engineer has Two Ammo Packs

Did you know that the engineer has two ammo packs to drop on the ground? I didn't know that until I read about them in the forums. One of the ammo pack is the one equipped in your weapon slot. The other ammo pack is part of your ACE tool. When you bring up the ACE, instead of putting down a turret, you can use the 'b' key to switch it to an ammo pack and dropped.

In the game, I was able to put down a turret, and drop both ammo packs. So now, literally, you can supply ammo to two groups of team mates at the same time. I'm just not real sure if there is any differences between the two ammo packs.

The "weapon" ammo pack is replaced by mines & C4. I would at least pick up personal mines; great for guarding generators, your back when rebuilding turrets, & revenge kills. If you want to take out vehicles, then vehicles mines & C4 is handy. The only time I would use 2 ammo packs is when I am the only engineer for several spread out MAX suits.

That's a good tip, SirTex. Thanks for giving me some food for thoughts.

Someone asked me, "what button is used to drop ammo in Planetside 2?"

I don't believe dropping ammo is bound to any keys. However, when you switch tot he ammo pack, you use the left mouse button to drop it. It needs to be dropped on a flat surface most of the time. The game shows a virtual red ammo pack when it can't be dropped. The ammo pack changes to green when you can drop it.

Title: PlanetSide 2: ACE MANA Turret Requires Manual Operator
Weblog: GearHack
Excerpt: While exploring the engineer class in PlanetSide 2, I noticed that it is able to deploy a MANA Turret using the Advanced Construction Engine. At first, I thought it would be like an automated sentry unit like the turret found in Battlefield 2142. But after deploying it, it is apparent that it must b . . .
