Minecraft Server is Easy to Move
It turns out that moving the Minecraft server (at least the Windows version) is extremely easy, if you have placed the server in its own directory. It's all self contained. I move the directory with the binary executable and all the data files over to the other notebook. Then it all works when I run it. Fido

I had the experience of setting up the multiplayer server this weekend on the LAN. I started on a netbook, but it crashed after a second player logged on. So I decided later to move it onto a dual-core notebook.
