F.E.A.R. - Coop Warfare 0.5 "CD-Key verification failed."

Coop Warfare 0.5 just came out. And the best part is that it's got more maps! So I was quick to download and install Coop Warfare 0.5. Installation is a breeze. And unlike 0.4, it didn't crash while running with FEAR 1.07.

I loaded up Coop Warfare 0.5 and tried to launch a multiplayer game. After loading the first map, it returned to the multiplayer menu with an error message: "CD-Key verification failed."

Huh? I have the retail version of the game . . . Load the game without the Coop Warfare 0.5 mod works just fine.

Finally, after reading the "Coop-WarfareReadMe.txt" in the FEAR root directory, I found that you had to copy "key.ini" from "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Monolith Productions\FEAR" to "C:\Program Files\Sierra\FEAR\Coopwarfare_User". After doing that, all is well.

Thanks! I just installed Coop Warfare 0.6 and had the same problem. Your solution worked. Thanks! But I'm having another issue with joining servers. When I try to join a server, it says "Unable to join because the game server is a different version (Version 1.08)" My F.E.A.R version is also 1.08. I don't know why I get that error. I can join a sever that I'm hosting but not others'. Any idea??

i had the same problem and i know how to fix it. just copy the "key.ini" file frome the users folder to the CoopWarfare_User folder
and thats it

yo tenia el mismo problema y ahora se arreglarlo. copia el "key.ini" de la carpeta "users" a la carpeta

la cdkey la podes sacar gratis de la pagina oficial del Fear combat

I have FEAR 1.08 and have the same issue with the CD-Key verification failed, and there is not a key.ini file in the FEAR directory. I am running a retail version of the game with the original cd in the drive. What do i need to do, in order to obtain the verification?

i tried all that. i copied the key.ini to the other folder and i'm still having the same problem. PLEASE does anyone know whats is wrong and how to fix it?

Hey, I've just upgraded FEARCombat from 1.07 > 1.08 and now it says my CD-Key Verification Failed. Anyone know what to do?

@range199 You can get the CD-Key from their website, or you can probably find it floating around somewhere on the internet.
