Number vs. Numeric KeypadI was playing around with Mouse Key last night. That's the feature in Windows where you can use the numeric keypad to move the mouse cursor around. But Windows Vista seems to distinguish between the numbers on top of the keyboard versus the numbers on the numeric pad. I tried to program some macros, but the Macro Editor doesn't seem to distinguish between the two. Is that true? Chieh Cheng Hello :) Nope, I can swear you that the Macro editor does the distinction between the Numeric keypad and the number on the top row of the alphanumeric block of the keyboard. :) I do not know if it does so in the "English" version of windows or not, but in french it precises in parenthesis right after the number if the key was the one of the numeric keypad. Example : "2 (PAVE NUM.)" wich could be translated into English in "2 (NUM. PAD)" If it does not, do not worry, it just because your windows version does not properly report the Name of the key (the name of a key is given to my program by the system according to the key code provided by my program), but the key code behind is different. Another thing that comes to my mind, if in your Macro command you use the "Q" key (You have a QWERTY layout, and I have an AZERTY layout), your key on my computer should appear as an "A". Wich means that your "Q" and my "A" are the same keys :) wilfrid avrillon Ok. That's interesting. I wonder why I can't get it to work. Time to play Sherlock again. Chieh Cheng I have a few idea about the subject. For instance, may be that the driver of your keyboard do not report a difference between a key of a Numeric keypad and a numerical key of the "top row". Another suggestion : try to "play" with CAPS or NUM LOCK, etc... wilfrid avrillon Ok. You are right. It works. Macro Editor shows "Num 8", etc. I just have to turn Mouse Key off first before programming the macros. Chieh Cheng Well, the programming of the number pad keys works. But Windows doesn't seems to recognized them for the use of Mouse Key. I opened up Notepad and noticed that the character shows up in Notepad, which means that Windows is not intercepting the keys for Mouse Key. I've attached the Macros List and Profile below. Chieh Cheng Mouse keys ? are you speaking about the num pad put in "Arrows" mode (Up/down/left/right)? If you want it to work in that way, you must record your macro with "Num lock" disabled ! You have to know that when you enable or disable the "Num lock", you work with two totally different part of keyboards ! wilfrid avrillon hmmm, may be that for a next release I could put an option in order to map the N50 with either numerical keys or mouse keys according to the "Num lock" state. Since this concerns a limited number of keys it should not be too complicated to program a little options appearing as a single checkbox for the user (Although I already see the mess in the code behind that kind of feature, lol). wilfrid avrillon Mouse Key: Anyway, it's not too important right now. I was just coming up with creative ways of using the Nostromo n50 with the NOVA Suite software. Chieh Cheng Hello, OK, I see this in the Win Xp at my office right now : And there is an option in order to precise if it might be used if "Num lock" is enabled or disabled ;) I will check this out this at home this evening.
