Beat Hazard Won't Launch

I got the complete Beat Hazard on Steam last week. It includes the classic and the new ultra version. But so far, I haven't been able to play it at all. It won't launch from Steam.

After double-clicking on Beat Hazard in Steam, Steam ask whether I want to play the classic version or the ultra version. After choosing either one, my computer makes an error sound. But there is no other indication that there is a problem. Steam goes back to idle (game not running mode).

My computer uses Windows 7. Anyone have a clue what happened or hwo to troubleshoot this problem?
