Aptera 2e: A Step in the Right DirectionWhen I first saw the Aptera 2e, it made me remember all of those movies that take place in the future where the cars can fly. We still haven't made it to that point as a society, but looking at the Aptera 2e makes me optimistic that maybe we'll get there someday soon. Everyone is talking about fuel economy and fuel efficiency, but the car designs stay the same. In fact, many of them seem to be based on old car designs. I don't get that feeling when looking at the Aptera 2e. I think the sleek, aerodynamic look of the vehicle is one of the automobile's most appealing features. The wheels are almost fully covered. I've never see that before. The 2e looks a light weight, but underneath is a truly rugged vehicle. Equipped with a cargo net and cargo room, it can meet anyone's storage needs without being too weighed down. I was surprised to learn that the 2e can hold a passenger despite their size. This seemed surprising because most energy efficient cars seem like they can't hold very much weight. The passenger seat even adjusts for objects that might need to extend past the cargo space. The 2e is one of the most aesthetically pleasing to the eye vehicles that I've seen in a long time. Designers really took an example from nature as they crafted the vehicle while still adhering to a futuristic concept. Its gullwing doors are very avian like as they lift up to open. I don't have to worry about denting the car door next to me as I get in and out of my vehicle. That's a relief those times when I return to my car, only to discover that someone has parked their car way too close to me. The car plugs into a wall outlet, too. That's to be expected of an environmentally friendly electric car. I can use a regular garage outlet, so I don't have to buy anything special to accommodate it. I wonder how long it has to be plugged in to become fully charged? How far can I travel on a single charge? These seem like the usual setbacks to owning an electric car. Maybe the engineers have found a way to maximize battery life. The 2e has some pretty amazing features. The efficiency meter lets me know exactly how much energy I'm using. I just hope that it can live up to that nice little name. Blind spots become a thing of the past because of the rear vision system. I remember hearing about this feature on an SUV, but other than that, it didn't seem to be put to use on other vehicles. It's definitely a useful feature. Then there's the solar assisted climate control system. That sounds very much ahead of its time. Will that one day make Freon obsolete? I may not be living in the age of the flying car, but the Aptera 2e is a step in the right direction. miroro
